چکیده

The use of biopesticides against agricultural pests is great importance for the sustainability pest management. goal present study was to determine lethal (acute) and sublethal (first male young queen emerge time, competition point, total number workers, males queens) effects four commercial [Nibortem (1.5% Lecanicillium (Verticillium) lecanii strain V1-1, Nostalgist Beauveria bassiana Bb-1), Priority Isaria fumosorosea (= Paecilomyces fumosoroseus) PFs-1) Nimbecidine (0.3 g/L Azadirachtin)] on Bombus terrestris. impacts were investigated at individual colony level worker bees by two application methods, namely topical residual contact. While, deaths significantly higher in each biopesticide used than control contact application, those except Nibortem found application. effect bioassays showed that there no differences terms first emergence time colonies both applications. However, workers not affected method. highest produced exposed methods. queens In conclusion, Nimbecidine, among tested biopesticides, caused vitally negative bumblebee particular.

Lethal and sublethal effects of azadirachtin on the bumblebee Bombus terrestris (Hymenoptera: Apidae).

Azadirachtin is a biorational insecticide commonly reported as selective to a range of beneficial insects. Nonetheless, only few studies have been carried out with pollinators, usually emphasizing the honeybee Apis mellifera and neglecting other important pollinator species such as the bumblebee Bombus terrestris. Here, lethal and sublethal effects of azadirachtin were studied on B. terrestris ...

Homing ability of the bumblebee Bombus terrestris (Hymenoptera: Apidae)

The ability of bumblebees to locate their nest site following artificial displacement was investigated. Bombus terrestris (Hymenoptera: Apidae) workers were marked with numbered tags and displaced up to 15 km from their nest. Bees returned from distances of up to 9.8 km, with the proportion of bees returning declining with distance of the release site from the nest. Bees were slow to return to ...

Apicystis bombi (Apicomplexa: Neogregarinorida) parasitizing Apis mellifera and Bombus terrestris (Hymenoptera: Apidae) in Argentina.

The neogregarine Apicystis bombi is considered a low prevalence parasite of Bombus spp. Before our work it has only once been detected in one single specimen of the Western honeybee Apis mellifera. This contribution reports the presence of A. bombi parasitizing both A. mellifera and Bombus terrestris at a site in Northwestern Argentine Patagonia (Bariloche, close to the border with Chile) and a...

Kin-selected conflict in the bumble-bee Bombus terrestris (Hymenoptera: Apidae).

Kin selection theory predicts conflict in social Hymenoptera between the queen and workers over male parentage because each party is more closely related to its own male offspring. Some aspects of the reproductive biology of the bumble-bee Bombus terrestris support kin selection theory but others arguably do not. We present a novel hypothesis for how conflict over male parentage should unfold i...
